How was it filming in Albany?

Well, I temporarily moved to Albany from L.A. a couple of years ago (and have since moved back).  I had studied writing and directing in L.A. and had shot a couple of short films there.  What struck me as the biggest advantage to Albany was price.  All of our locations but one were completely free; in L.A. we could have easily spent thousands of dollars on locations alone, which would have been enough to make the production cost prohibitive for us.  With the exception of Jamie's apartment (most of the exteriors were shot outside of this apartment as well), Jill's apartment, and three bars downtown, all of the other locations were at Albany Law School.  So finding all of our offices, hallways, bathrooms, audition rooms, etc., was easy and best of all free.

Of course, there were downsides to filming there--resources weren't as plentiful (although I have to say we were very lucky with casting and crewing), and the major thing that got in our way was weather.  We filmed in the summer, but it still rained nearly every weekend.  Luckily we only had a few days scheduled outside, so it didn't turn out to be that bad.  Also with the exteriors, you have to be careful about what you see--fortunately we didn't have much outside, but as you'll notice, there are some very eastern looking houses in the background.  Leah and I went to a wedding out in Southern CA in August, so we were able to grab a shot of Jamie walking down Hollywood Blvd. in addition to a few other stock shots of L.A.
