How did you cast the film? While all of the actors in the film have had acting experience, only two in the movie (Tiffany Anne Carrin who played Jill, and Nathan Edmondson who played Glen) actually consider themselves actors. Olivia Nix (who plays Lola) and Andrea Andrei (Andi) were both students at Albany Law School and friends of mine prior to casting, and Mary Lynch (who played the producer) is a law professor (Leah Williamson, the producer, goes to the law school). The part of Andi was originally written to be a very serious butch lesbian, but after I thought to have Andrea play her as German (I was still writing the script at this point), it really added a lot to this subplot and the way I was able to develop this story line with the language. We cast Joe McDaniel (who played Dan) from a locally shot film we saw, and David Au (playing the part of David) is a friend of mine from L.A. Film School. The only character we officially auditioned for was Jill, and we couldn't have been luckier with our find. She ended up being perfect, and our scenes came alive in a way I hadn't even written them to come alive; it added so much depth to their relationship. |
